Show Your Work
One of the core principles behind Survivor-Reference is transparency. If we're going to assign numbers to players, you should be able to see exactly how those numbers are calculated.
The full stat definitions document is now live on the site. It covers all 17 stats across the three pillars (Outwit, Outplay, Outlast), both composite metrics (Torch Score and Jeff's Index), all four badge types, and the leaderboard qualification and tiebreaker rules.
What's In There
- Formulas and data sources for every stat — what gets counted, what gets excluded, and why.
- Edge case handling — how we deal with revotes, idol plays, split votes, double tribals, and the dozens of weird situations Survivor throws at you.
- Career aggregation — how per-season stats roll up into career numbers using placement-weighted averages.
- Torch Score breakdown — base score weights, win/FTC/returnee bonuses, and the Returnee Season Difficulty (RSD) tiers.
- Jeff's Index — confessional share, CPE, the Probst Player list, and the quit/ejected penalty.
- Leaderboard rules — eligibility filters and tiebreaker logic for all 14 stat preview boxes.
Why It Matters
Stats without methodology are just vibes. We want every number on this site to be verifiable and debatable on its merits. If you think a formula should work differently, you can see exactly what we're doing and tell us why we're wrong.
